Kenya Premier League side Sofapaka FC will from June 2018 enter into contract talks with their head coach Sam Ssimbwa with a view of tying down the Ugandan to a new long term deal.
Club owner Elly Kalekwa revealed on Tuesday that he is confident the veteran tactician will pen a new deal with the 2009 KPL champions even as speculations continue to grow over his future with only one year left on his contract with Batoto Ba Mungu.
"He still has one year left on his contract and according to us, he's a good coach. We'll look into his case (contract) from mid this year," Kalekwa told local sports website Goal.com.
Ssimbwa joined Sofapaka towards the tail end of 2016 when the team's perfomance had taken a turn for the worst and successfully turned its fortunes around for the better by guiding them to second place in the Kenya Premier League log in 2017 behind champions Gor Mahia.
However, there have been concerns that the experienced tactician could be on his way out of the club although he has remained non committal on the matter only saying that his focus is firmly on winning the coveted title that has eluded the Cats for almost a decade now.
