Sofapaka Head Coach Sam Ssimbwa has blamed his players for not doing enough on the pitch following their 3-1 loss to Mathare United at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County on Sunday.
Speaking after the game, the tactician said it was unfortunate that the team conceded easy goals in the first half thus giving their visitors confidence to rob them the three points.
"We were poor, especially in defense, they worked hard and found the back of the net easily at the expense of our mistakes," Ssimbwa said.
Ssimbwa urged his squad to put more efforts in ensuring they clinch victory in the upcoming Kenya Premier League (KPL) match against AFC Leopards on Wednesday this week.
Mathare United piled pressure to the hosts and got an early lead in the 17th minute through Edward Seda's penalty after the player was brought down inside the box.
Chrispin Oduor doubled the lead ten minutes later with a superb strike after receiving a great pass from Ezekiel Okare hence putting themselves in a better position to clinch the win.
Batoto Ba Mungu pulled one back on the 42nd minute after they were awarded a penalty which was slotted home by Mathius Kigonya.
The game took a new twist with Sofapaka piling pressure for an equalizer but things could not work their way as on 63rd minute ,Edwin Seda scored again to secure the 3-1 victory.
