Kirinya Jinja SS head coach Charles Ayiekoh turned down calls to coach Sofapaka and BUl FC, it has been revealed.
The coach recently extended his contract with the Jinja club by one year, a deal which will see him at the club until 2020.
Ayiekoh revealed that the four clubs (both local and foreign) had approached him for his services but he opted to remain at Kirinya.
“It [football] is not only about money,” Ayiekoh said adding that, “otherwise I could have moved to one of the clubs that wanted my services.
I had several offers from Sofapaka and some other clubs I won’t mention but I opted to renew my contract. I chose to remain because of the good atmosphere here [at Kirinya]. I love where am working and the relationship [with the school] is wonderful.
My target is to help them achieve something big before I leave,"
The club has a good structure that unearths and brings up young talent, with the coach insisting that he was very passionate when it comes to nurturing talent.
It is also revealed that BUL is among the four clubs that had approached the coach. Ayiekoh helped Kirinya to a fifth-place finish last season and is among the coaches gunning for the Uganda Premier League coach of the year award.
