Sofapaka assistant captain Maurice Onguso has heaped praise on his teammate Wesley Onguso after the latter was called up to the Harambee Stars in the ongoing Cecafa Senior Challenge tournament.
Coach Paul Put called Onguso late after Ulinzi defender Omar Mbongi was deemed unfit due to illness.
Odipo says Onguso should have been handed a call-up i the first selection as his performance at Sofapaka has been tremendous.
"Honestly, Onguso’s call-up should not even have been an afterthought. His input at Sofapaka in the just concluded Kenyan Premier League has been commendable and it’s now time for him to show what stuff he is made of in the Cecafa tournament," Odipo said.
"I think Sofapaka has three or four players who deserved such summons and it’s only fair that national team selectors look critically at all the KPL teams in future to get the right material for Harambee Stars," he added.
