Sofapaka on Friday completed the signing of AFC leopards custodian, Ian Otieno on a long-term contract. The 24-year-old will rival with Ugandan goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya for number one goalkeeper slot. Otieno admitted that clinching the slot will not be an easy task since Kigonya is good and up to the task.“I don’t expect things to be easy. Kigonya being the first choice goalie means he is good while the rest of the young men are coming up well. That means I have my work cut out in making the first team. But it is possible for a good measure if I work hard,” said Otieno as quoted on the club’s website.Otieno now becomes the biggest deal of Sofapaka for the season. The club had earlier netted Kepha Aswani from Nakumatt FC, Jackson Saleh from Western Stima as well as Kariobangi Sharks duo Ibrahim Kitawi and Elli Asieche.Another high profile signing for the 2009 KPL champions was Ulinzi hitman Stephen Waruru. The club which finished 2nd in the Kenya Premier League (KPL) last season is optimistic of wrestling the title from the 2017 champions Gor Mahia.
