Sofapaka FC has knocked down Posta Rangers 2-1 in an entertaining Kenya Premier league (KPL) match which was played on Saturday at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County.
Batoto Ba Mungu dominated in the first half of the match with players such as Kevin Kimani, Kepha Aswani and Stephen Waruru piling pressure on the visitors for a goal.
Their efforts paid off on the 42nd minute when Waruru netted the opener from a well taken free kick from Kevin Kimani.
This was the first goal for the player after joining Sofapaka from Nakuru based side Ulinzi Stars.
Until halftime, Sofapaka looked more sharp in play as compared to Posta which had a difficult time in taming the hosts.
Batoto Ba Mungu continued to seek more goals in the second half and on the 48th minute, Kepha Aswani doubled the lead after Posta Rangers defender committed a defensive error.
The Rangers then started attacking the hosts with an aim of at least getting a single point out of the game.
Gearson Likono later pulled one for the hosts to ensure the match ends 2-1.
This is the second win in a week for Sofapaka after drowning AFC Leopards 2-1 on Wednesday at Narok Stadium.
Head Coach Sam Ssimbwa who guided Batoto Ba Mungu to a second position on KPL last season is likely to be motivated by the victory as they embark on preparations for the next match.
