Zanzibar and Taifa Jang'ombe playmaker Abdul Aziz Makame controls the ball in a past scene.Sofapak is planning to sign him ahead of the 2018 season.(zanzinews.com)Kenya Premier League side Sofapaka are leading the race to sign Zanzibar and FC Taifa Jang'ombe midfielder Abdul Aziz Makame.The young midfielder was inspirational for the Island country during the Cecafa senior challenge tournament where Zanzibar emerged second after losing to host Kenya in post match penalties.The impressive display saw several clubs express an interest in signing him among them reigning Kenyan champions Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.However it has now become apparent that it is the 2009 champions who are likely to land his signature following intense bidding.According to Sofapaka FC Chief Executive Officer. (CEO) Emmanuel Kayoyi,the club has held close talks with the Zanzibar outfit and ia confident of landing their favourite player"We have been talking to the club for a while now and we are almost coming to an agreement.The talks are positive and I am certain we will land the player.He will be our final signing of the January transfer window," Kayoyi told the club's website.Gor and Leopards have since toned down on their quest to have the pacy plamaker leaving only 'Batoto Ba Mungu' to pursue him seriously.Sofapaka will be hoping to better their 2017 campaign that saw them finish a distant second behind champions Gor Mahia.
