Authorities in Somalia say they have since blocked Somali refugees in Daadab returning from Kenya because they do not get the necessary humanitarian support once they reach the country.
In an interview with VOA Somali service, the Jubbaland's interior and internal security minister, Mohamed Warsmae said security forces are blocking the returnees from getting out of the transition center in Dobley.
"We have decided to halt the returnees' movement. Thousands of refugees who are already in our towns like Kismayo port are currently facing severe humanitarian crisis," he said.
Darwish further added that the Tripartite Agreement signed has not yet fulfilled the expectations of the refugees returning from Dadaab.
"The refugees are ferried from Dadaab with trucks and once in Somalia they are only given $200. That is it. They lack the very basic human necessities as water, shelter and food," added the Minister.
He also said many of the returnees are already getting demoralized and most of them regret having left Dadaab.
"People with kids who had schools, access to better health services and bright future are now flooding into these cities that are already struggling with Internal Displaced Persons. They are now very sad and uncertain of what their future holds," he revealed.
