Somalia president Mohamed Abdullahi was for the first time officially and formally received at State House, Nairobi, Kenya with President Uhuru Kenyatta.Abdullahi received a 21 gun salute, inspected his first guard of honor mounted by a detachment of the Kenya Army while the national anthems of Kenya and Somalia were played by the military band.Kenyatta and Abdullahi held one-on-one talks before they led their delegations in bilateral talks aimed at bolstering cooperation between Kenya and Somalia.Areas of cooperation identified in the Joint Commission include security, trade and investment, civil aviation, education, agriculture, resources sharing and development, livestock development, fisheries, tourism, immigration, labor and health.Kenyatta last month attended the inauguration of President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed in Mogadishu and pledged Kenya’s continued support to Somalia. The Kenyan military in association with the Somalia military have partnered since 16th October 2011 to restore Somalia from the militia group Al- Shabaab.
