A family in Migori is mourning the demise of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination candidate.

The deceased, Basil Omondi, a student at Migori Complex Secondary School, died on Saturday after being sent home for treatment.

Speaking at his family home in Kadika Village, Migori County Omondi’s father, Francis Ogama said his son, 18, had been admitted at Oruba Nursing Home after being diagnosed with acute Malaria and Typhoid.

He also said the deceased was transferred to St Joseph Hospital Ombo on Friday after his condition worsened.  The doctors at the facility admitted him, but he died while undergoing treatment on Saturday.

The deceased’s mother, Grace Akinyi said that her son wanted to go back to school and prepare for the examinations despite his condition.

The School Principal Edwin Agere said that the students complained of muscle pain and acute headache before he was asked to seek for treatment.
