A somber mood engulfed Nyanchwa sub-county in Kisii county after a middle-aged lady was raped and killed on Tuesday night by unknown assailants.
The lady's lifeless body was found on Wednesday morning, and marks on her naked body was an indicator of what she must have gone through in the hands of the men.
Her personal belongings including her body lotion and make-up in a small bag and shoes as well were beside her body,
Community policing officers, as well as the area OCS, arrived at the scene, with investigations set to be launched to ascertain her death.
according to reports, this is the fourth case that has happened in the area, with the police officers at pains to explain the deaths and so far no arrests made.
The lady, who is suspected to have been a commercial sex worker is said to have been operating in Kisii, Mashauri and other areas within the town.
Her friends, who are in the same business, are now a worried lot, fearing that there could be people out to hunt them.
Cases of commercial sex workers being killed are not new, with similar cases reported in other parts of the country including Naivasha and Nakuru.
Her body was taken to the Kisii General Hospital Mortuary, where her body will be preserved awaiting further investigations.
