A body of a teenager who drowned in Ngeria dam was retrieved on Saturday after the county government of Uasin Gishu called in divers.
The teenager drowned when he was swimming in the dam.
Uasin Gishu deputy governor Daniel Chemno warned residents against swimming in such dangerous places.
Chemno promised that the dam will be fenced.
“Fencing will reduce the cases of people drowning and therefore we will turn the site as an irrigation sector so that we make use of the water,” Chemno said.
“We have managed to equip the fire department with the necessary tools to deal with fire related emergencies, but now, we are going to ensure that we acquire water related and other emergency tools so that the department can be able to adequately deal with all manner of emergencies,” Chemno added.
