Speaking to journalists in Athi River town on Wednesday, Jackson Mweke, the Assistant National Secretary General to Kenya Chemical and Allied Workers Union (KCAWU), said the company deserved to be emulated by others across the nation, as it had broken the record as far as respect to labour laws were concerned.

“Bamburi Cement Company is the biggest and most established cement producer in East and Eastern Africa, but has no records of workers exploitation," said Mweke.

Mweke said in spite the fact that the company was the most established and biggest in cement production industry within the East and Eastern Africa Region, it had no records on workers exploitation.

He disclosed that the firm with its main cement production plant located in Athi River of Machakos County pays its workers handsomely without any form of discrimination.

The Secretary General attributed this to professionalism and responsible management which according to him hired staff on merit and experience hence higher returns from human resources.

“The performance is because all the company's employees work with passion since they have no stress as witnessed amongst most of the companies of that kind in Athi River," added Mweke.

He warned employers against workers exploitation with intent of making lots of profit arguing its strategies that work for industries success but not illicit shortcuts.
