A group of political leaders in Uasin Gishu County has cautioned the National Super Alliance (Nasa) against disrupting October 26 repeat presidential poll.
Led by the County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat and the assembly leader of Majority Josphat Lowoi, the Jubilee allied leaders claim some forces are using NASA to plunge this country into chaos.
Speaking in Eldoret on Wednesday, the leaders claim NASA's call for demonstrations is part of their ploy to cause violence.
They insisted that elections must be held on October 26 as gazetted by the electoral body IEBC.
"The Supreme Court was very clear that elections held within 60 days, there's no ambiguity about that. The IEBC is only following what was directed and this is why we are determined to have elections on the set date," said Mr. Kiplagat.
"Those who don't want to participate in the repeat elections are within their rights to do so but they have no right to disrupt the election process," added Lowoi who is also the Karina/Mibeki MCA.
The leaders further claimed calls by the opposition to hold demonstrations on the elections day is a plot to cause violence in the country.
"We know all they want is to plunge this country into chaos because they are working with some forces," Lowoi said.
NASA has insisted that there will be no elections on October 26 until their demands for electoral reforms are fulfilled.
They have already called for major protests across the country on the election day.
