Students Organization of Maseno University (SOMU) president Fredrick Makajos has urged students to shun corruption.

Speaking at All Saints ACK church Maseno Parish, Mr Makajos called on students and the teaching fraternity to join hands in the fight against the vise.

According to the outspoken leader, universities play an immense role in the nation’s economic growth hence there is no need to teach students about some of the things that can kill the economy such as corruption.

Makajos took a few minutes of the session to sternly condemn students and members of staff involved in corrupt dealings at the university terming them as enemies of education.

"I am deeply saddened by the increased graft witnessed in our national government recently. It breaks my heart when I see individuals mishandling taxpayers’ money and later use it for their own selfish interests. This is a vise that we should and must not tolerate" he said as quoted by the Standard.

Maseno University is considered among the fastest growing universities in the nations competing with the likes of The University of Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture, Science and technology (JKUAT), Kenyatta University (KU) and Moi University among others.
