A twenty-year-old man was sentenced to four years in prison for stealing his mother's property valued at Sh166 980.
Chief Magistrate David Kimei handed Victor Kiprotich the sentence after the court established that on June 13 and 14 he stole a motorbike, two tables, iron sheets, television set, alongside other items belonging to Rabby Chepngetich (mother) while she was away.
The items had been recovered after Chepngetich reported the matter at Rongai Police Station with the help of the accused.
Kipngetich asked for forgiveness from the court and from his mother but Ms Chepngetich asked the court to take all actions necessary since Kiprotich has been a problem to her and his siblings.
“He was expelled from school two years ago for being drunk. He worsened and started bringing various girlfriends at home and becoming hostile to me and his elder siblings,” Chepngetich told the court.
She also said that Kiprotich had axed his brother's car and hers and then threatened to kill her.
“He told me another time he will cut me into pieces. Since then he has been sleeping with a panga under his pillow making me feel scared and I have sought for help from this court. His father refused to stay with him due to his bad behaviour,” added the mother.
The accused has two weeks to make an appeal.
