A woman accused of murder had to face his son at the High Court in Nakuru on Thursday over the death of her husband.
Eunice Helen Maina's son had to testify before the High Court Judge Maureen Odero in a case where she is accused of murdering her husband Peter Ombati a year ago.
Wimsey Ogendi Ombati, the accused's son, however, told the court that he couldn’t directly link the accused to the death adding that prior to the incidence no signs of bad blood between his parents had appeared.
“I would like to say that I don’t really know whoever killed my father. However I am very certain that prior to his death I never observed any act of hatred between them,” he said.
The Kenyatta University student further claimed that he was perplexed to see his mother as the prime suspect adding that she had never shown any acts of violence to anyone since he was born.
He told the court that he was not there at the time of the incident and therefore, could not tell whether his father had been murdered and his body dropped in a pit latrine or if it was an inside job.
According to police constable Caleb Simiyu who also testified, the deceased body had wounds around the neck, chest, ribs and the abdomen regions and was retrieved from a pit latrine within his compound four days after being reported missing.
He added that witnesses they had interviewed admitted to hearing quarrels on the fateful night and when they asked the accused she only dismissed them for being too preoccupied with her issues.
"Some witnesses told me that the accused started acting shifty when asked why they were quarelling and would not say where the husband was," he said.
The accused is alleged to have committed the said crime on June 19, 2014 in Kapsita village, Molo.
The next hearing was set for January 20, 2016.
