Nairobi governor Mike Sonko seems not to be done with his predecessor Evans Kidero whom he accuses of harbouring cartels who did little to clean the city.
“In the previous administration, garbage collection was scam and was riddled with corruption and is run by a cartel,” he said.
“Let us divert from the past and ensure garbage collection and disposal tenders are awarded transparently and in accordance with the Procurement Laws.”
He said he envisages at making Nairobi the cleanest city in East and Central Africa.
“Let us pull together to have a city where water is safe, accessible, affordable and regular. Nairobi residents have continued to witness inadequate and perennial water loss over the years,” he added.
He said fighting corruption is a collective responsibility.
“On my part, I will spare no one found engaging in corruption,” the county chief added.
“We are all aware that corruption undermines development and service delivery by diverting resources set aside for development to the personal gain of a few and discouraging both local and foreign investors.”
