Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has airlifted lympoma patient Hamza Mohammed from Lamu Island to Nairobi's Kenyatta National Hospital for advanced treatment.

20-year-old Mohammed fell sick three years ago in what later led to him dropping out of school.

He suffers cancer of the lymphatic system that affects the white blood cells thus weakening the body's defence system.

Mohammed underwent chemotherapy a number of times but his health has continued to deteriorate.

"I'm happy that my prayers have finally been answered. I'm hopeful that I will get good treatment in Nairobi," Mohammed said at the Moi International Airport in Mombasa as quoted by the Star.
