Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has appointed former town clerk John Gakuo as his urban planning and renewal advisor.

The move comes at a time when Sonko is trying to create a team that will assist him as he continues to govern the county for his next five years in office.

So far the governor has managed to select a team of six advisors.

So far Sonko’s  team includes Githende Gachanja  (economic advisor), Alphonce Mutinda (legal advisor), Abel Onchari Oyieyo (political advisor), Antony Otieno Ombok(communication advisor) while Peter Kamau Mugo is head of delivery unit and Joseph Ireri Kamanda will serve as his deputy.

Former Kiambu director of county public communication Mukami Kamau will now take over the office that was previously held by Beryl Okundi. Joab Mwaura of K24 is the new director of the governor’s press service, a position formerly held by Walter Mong’are.

As the governor continues to implement changes throughout Nairobi he will be keen to crack down on cartels and corruption which has ailed the county’s progress.
