Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has yet again found himself in familiar controversy after he ‘veered off’ during the Senate special sitting.
Senator Ekwe Ethuro had summoned the Senate to discuss controversial amendments of the election law which had been passed by the National Assembly.
Even though the Senate referred the matter to Legal and ICT committees, it’s the remarks of Sonko, who had called Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo ‘botch’, caught the ears of Kenyans on social media.
“This man should not be trusted with any public office and whoever votes him has a problem. He is incoherent and veers off debates in a serious house,” said Celine Momanyi in Nyamira ODM Youth league Whatsap group.
“The Nairobians should think twice if this man (Sonko) stands in 2017 elections. He is an embarrassment who cannot be counted at the hour of need. Kenyans needs more serious people than him,” added Christine Moraa.
Earlier, Senate speaker had compelled Sonko to withdraw the derogative remarks after pressure from a section of his colleagues.
Ms. Odhiambo has dismissed President Uhuru Kenyatta as ‘stupid’, remarks which did not go down well with Jubilee supporters.
