Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko will narrowly beat Governor Evans Kidero in the gubernatorial race if elections were held today, a new survey has shown. The poll, by Tifa research firm, shows Sonko leading with 46% in total support, with Dr Kidero, the ODM candidate, following closely with 45%. Recent research findings had placed Governor Kidero ahead of his competitions, but Senator Sonko’s popularity has been rising since he clinched the Jubilee party ticket. In the same poll, NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga beats President Uhuru Kenyatta as the preferred presidential candidate in Nairobi County, with 55% of city dwellers backing his bid, compared to Uhuru’s 39%.The pollster also did a survey in Kirinyaga and Kilifi counties. Governor Amason Kingi is leading with 51% support and Jubilee's Gideon Mung’aro is a distant second with 16%. In Kirinyaga, former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru is ahead (55%)of her closest challenger, former presidential candidate Martha Karua (36%). The results of the findings were done on Thursday.
