Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has blamed hotel owners for the garbage that has been seen piling up with the city.
According to Sonko the hotel owners are the ones who pay street children for disposing the garbage.
"Just realized that illegal dumping around CBD is done by business owners, especially in the hotel industry. They pay street kids to pick up garbage from the back doors of the hotels at night and dump them along the lanes in the city," he said via social media.
As a result he has told the county inspectorate department to arrest all engaging in the act starting Tuesday night.
"It's our responsibility as Nairobians to ensure our streets are clean. If you spot any illegal dumping around your place of work, kindly inform me through 0722886600, " he added.
The move by the governor comes as he aims to clean up the city and turn it into the cleanest city in Africa.
