Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has cautioned Opposition coalition NASA against holding protests on as President Uhuru Kenyatta's prepared to take oath of office for his second term on Tuesday.

Speaking on Saturday, Sonko noted that all demonstrations on Tuesday remains illegal, adding that Jacaranda grounds  where NASA plans to hold their rally will be out of bounds on Tuesday.

The county chief accused NASA leader Raila Odinga of disrupting businesses in Nairobi, urging the former Prime Minister to respect the Constitution and the rule of law.

Speculations are rife that NASA is plotting to swear-in Raila as President, a move that Sonko disapproved of.

“As leaders, we respect Raila, as a statesman, he knows the Constitution and he is aware that any attempt to be sworn in is uncalled for,” he said.

In a recent communication, however, NASA clarified that they intend to hold a memorial service for their supporters killed in the hands of the police during the heightened political stalemate.
