Through his social media accounts, the governor expressed his joy in the steady growth of revenue collection in the recent months.

"Happy Easter to you all. I've come to the office briefly and so far so good. I'm really impressed and I have no words on how to express myself, by the support and confidence Nairobi taxpayers have accorded my administration," he said.

"Revenue collection has been going up daily and monthly: Tuesday (Ksh106 Million), Wednesday (Ksh107 Million) and Thursday (Ksh120 Million)."January (Ksh1.6 Billion), February (Ksh 1.4Billion) and March stands at (Ksh1.47 Billion). It is unbelievable," he said.

Sonko further posted an image to confirm the same and clarified the figures, thanking Nairobians for complying despite the numerous challenges.

"The revenue dashboard image attached only shows balance in our operational account at coop bank, but the actual bank balance is at the CBK county's revenue account, where all monies collected deposited at every close of business as provided by the public finance management act,"

"We are proud as Nairobians where every working staff is paid on time despite the many challenges we are facing," he added.

The Nairobi County Government has significantly increased its revenue collection since Sonko took over from former governor Evans Kidero .

This improvement has been largely attributed to the automation of revenue collection.
