Sonko has been accused of poor performance, with some of his pre-election promises yet to be realised 9 months down the line.

Speaking on Radio Jambo's 'Mazungumzo Waziwazi' Monday evening, however, Nyoro called for calm and urged Nairobians to give the county chief more time to address the garbage and traffic congestion menaces which he had promised to address within his first 3 months in office.

According to the lawmaker, the governor is in charge of a huge location and should be allocated more time to establish long-term solution's to the two shortcomings and more others, noting that he has since made a huge step in the county administration as proof of his goodwill.

''He might have not kept all his promises yet but has some achievements to his name within the short time he has been in office. For instance, no county staff has missed his pay since he came to office. The governor needs more time to achieve more,'' said the lawmaker.

His comments were echoed by fellow panelist and political analyst David Makali who urged Nairobians to jump on board in the pursuit for a better and cleaner city.

''It would be unrealistic to expect him to singlehandedly handle the issue and Nairobi residents too need to participate. There is also need for partnership with the central government and other stakeholders especially on the garbage issue,'' said Makali.
