Despite insisting that he will stand by his choice for Nairobi Deputy Governor nominee Miguna Miguna, governor Mike Sonko seems to have dropped the idea.

Over the weekend at a fund drive, Sonko said that he will stand by Miguna's name adding that his fate can only be determined by county assembly.

"Miguna Miguna remains my choice. He will help me fight cartels who are frustrating development," said Sonko.

For weeks now, the Jubilee governor has been accusing a section of State House operatives led by Interior PS Karanja Kibicho of sabotage.

But at Jacaranda on Wednesday, Sonko seems to suggest that he nominated Miguna, a chief critic of President Uhuru Kenyatta as a response to 'cartels' linked to state house.

"You Excellency do not be scared of Miguna Miguna. I just did that because of your people who keeps on troubling me," said Sonko.

The outspoken lawyer has since rejected the nomination insisting that the governor did not consult him.

While addressing the Embakasi East residents, Uhuru however dismissed claims that he can be 'intimidated' by Miguna Miguna.
