Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has encouraged 2017 KCSE candidates who did not perform well in the exams. He urged the students to stay cheerful despite the results adding that they will still succeed in life and achieve their goals in life. "I'd like to take a moment to encourage KCSE students, you will succeed, " Sonko said in a tweet on Saturday. The city governor also asked parents not to discourage their kids just because they did not score high in the just concluded exams. Sonko suggested that the government and the parents should liaise and promote sports and other curricular activities that may aid in the success of the kids. "Dear parents, kindly avoid discouraging kids just because they didn't score an A. Together we must liaise & promote sports & other extracurricular activities for our children to fulfill their full potential, " he added. This follows after Education CS Dr. Fred Matiang'i and KNEC CEO George Magoha released the results last week. The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) secretary general Wilson Sossion, however, condemned the results citing that the marking was marred with irregularities and called for an audit to be done on the results.Nasa leader Raila Odinga also condemned the results saying the small number of students accessing the universities will lower the labour force of the country.Dr. Matiang'i has, however, maintained that the results that were released are appropriate and slammed calls for an audit.
