Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has called on City residents to voice any concerns or contributions they may have.

Speaking at Kencom House when he launched Devolution Sensitisation Week, Sonko said public participation would help promote transparency and accountability in the administration of the county.

"Public participation is one of the core pillars of the 2010 Constitution. Both county governments and the public should take advantage of this platform to ensure their expectations are met," he said on Wednesday.

The county boss also observed that by participating in the running affairs of the county, residents would enable his administration serve them more conveniently.

"Considering the challenge of fighting corruption within county administration, the exercise would go a long way in ending the vice," he added.

Devolution Sensitisation Week is organised by the Council of Governors (CoG) and it aims at creating public awareness on the structure and operations of the devolved units.

"This event is important because we get a chance to interact with the public so we can learn how to serve them better," said CoG chief executive officer Jacqueline Mogeni.

The three-day event in Nairobi that ends on Friday also saw attendees donate blood and get screened for cancer and other diseases.
