Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was quick to congratulate President Uhuru Kenyatta following the decision by the Supreme Court to uphold his re-election.

The Supreme Court unanimously decided to dismiss the petitions filed against President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election citing that they lacked merit.

The governor issued a statement saying he looks forward to working with the government to ensure service delivery.

"I look forward to working with you to develop closer relations between your Government and my administration for better service delivery," the statement read as reported by The Star.

“I also wish you success in performing the important and responsible duties of your position,” Sonko added.

The governor also met with his fellow county counterparts and agreed that they would work together to ensure devolution is carried out across the country.

President Kenyatta scheduled to be sworn in November 28. The court will also give its detailed decision in 21 days.
