Senator Mike Sonko has beaten former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru to win the Jubilee Party ticket for the Nairobi gubernatorial race. Sonko got 138,185 votes against Peter Kenneth’s 62,504. The senator will now face ODM’s Governor Evans Kidero and independent candidate Miguna Miguna. Bishop Wanjiru, a former Starehe MP, emerged a distant third, but will continue to stay in prison for the next 5 days when she will be released on bond. She was been charged with destroying Jubilee election materials.Mr Kenneth had earlier raised a red flag over alleged election malpractices during the Jubilee primaries in Nairobi, and it remains to be seen if he will file an official complaint at the Jubilee headquarters. Sonko thanked God and his supporters for the win, in a social media post.“Asante Sana Mungu.....Twasema asante...God bless you watu wangu and thank you for Nominating Me,” the controversial senator posted in his Facebook page.
