Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has fired a warning to presumed landgrabbers in the city.
Sonko said his administration will not sit and watch as individuals take land from fellow individuals or from the county.
"The war on land grabbing is real and serious issue. I will fight to the end to ensure that county public land remains in the hands of the Nairobians.I'm perturbed by the way some police officers are conducting investigation in regard to land grabbing syndicates," he said.
"Today at dawn, a lab technician Barnabas Asembo working at Pumwani hospital was harassed by some individuals who were forcing him to vacate from a county house he has been staying. The County staff was locked at Pangani police station with an aim of intimidating him to bow out and surrender the house which is being grabbed by a well known individual and only identified as Rashid. He was taken to Milimani law courts for charges to be preferred against him.I have directed my county detectives to over the case and do thorough investigations so that all the culprits involved in grabbing public land can be brought to book," he added.
