The Nairobi county government has at last embarked on a programme to beautify Mombasa Road.

This comes after a long call by environmentalists and lobby groups calling on the county government to help improve the aesthetic value of the road.

Taking to his Facebook page, Sonko said Nairobi was going to compete other cities in terms of beauty once the road was fixed.

"We have embarked on a beautification programme along Mombasa Road that will make the city match other world cities," he said.

"Preparing ground in readiness of Planting of Tree's, Flowers and Grass. Fixing the environment is a top agenda item for my administration," he added.
