Ms Margaret Mugusu had been detained at Akidiva Hospital after she failed to clear the Ksh.30, 000 medical bill.
She was admitted to the hospital after she suffered shock last week after learning the death of her children.
The woman lost four children after a lorry ferrying sand lost control and rammed into her house killing her four children who were sleeping at the time.
In a Facebook post she thanked the governor for helping her clear the hospital bill and helping in the funeral arrangements.
“I would like to thank Governor Sonko for his kindness. He has sent me 35,000 to help clear the bill. May God bless him abundantly," said Mugusu.
Sonko who also provided the four coffins for the deceased and hearses for the funeral said he leant of the incident in the media and was touched by the story.
“I felt really sad when I heard of the unfortunate news of the demise of the four children. I have pledged to give 100000 for funeral expenses and provide hearse to carry the bodies.” Said Sonko.
Kenyans on social media lauded the Nairobi governor for the kind gesture and called upon other leaders to follow the same example.
