Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has forgiven his rivals for the governor seat, Peter Kenneth, over 'wearing suits without brains' remarks.
Kenneth, a former MP, said the Jubilee Senator has acquired a new image - donning suits every day - but has no brains to show for it.
Sonko beat Kenneth in the Jubilee primaries, but the 2013 presidential candidate said he was rigged out.
" This man knows he cannot do the job...that is why he has started wearing suits...but his mind is the same old one...you cannot hide it in a suit," said Kenneth, who is vying as an independent candidate.
In a rejoinder on Wednesday, Sonko lashed out at Kenneth, saying he should be preparing his agenda for the county, not attacking him.
"He has started attacking me based on my suits...he should stop politics of abuse...leaders should be respected. He claimed DP William Ruto is a thief...I have forgiven him," he said, as quoted by The Star.
Sonko said he was elected by Nairobi residents based on what he offered, not because he does not have brains.
“The people chose me as their Senator because I am not a crook. You get your hands dirty and sell policies," he said.
The contest for Nairobi governorship is expected to be close.
Other’s gunning for the post are Lawyer Miguna Miguna (Independent) and Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero of ODM.
