[Photo: the-star]A Mombasa Court has given Nairobi senator Mike Sonko 14 days to pay Sh100,000 or face a six months jail term. This is after he failed to produce Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) chairman Omar Mwamnuadzi, before the Court, Monday. While issuing the ruling, Mombasa Law Courts, Chief Magistrate Francis Kyambia acknowledged that the Nairobi Jubilee governorship aspirant had been attending scheduled Court proceedings, but above that, failed to produce the suspect.Mwamnuadzi has been missing since April 2016, after absconding court proceedings.Warrants of arrest were issued against him, with Sonko guaranteeing his release on a Sh1 million surety, and pledging to produce him.He was given at least four months to produce Mwamnuadzi before the court with Sonko saying he sent private investigators to Tanzania after reports that he might be hiding there for fear of his life but did not trace him. However, lawyer Yusuf Abubakar, who represents 38 suspects charged alongside Mwamnuadzi, including his wife, for allegedly being members of outlawed MRC group, told the court the family feared Mwamnuadzi might have been abducted and even killed.
