Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has warned city residents against electing flamboyant Senator Mike Sonko as governor during the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking on Wednesday, Kidero noted that Sonko had failed to deliver as Senator in his four and half year tenure and therefore not competent enough to unseat him.
Initially, Sonko had accused Kidero of failing to effectively tackle graft within the County government, accusing the incumbent county chief of protecting cartels.
Assertions that Kidero has since dismissed.
“Sonko knows the authorities that deal with corruption. He can go to the EACC, the DCI and even our assembly. As the senator, he has a permanent seat in the assembly, but he has never raised these issues," he said.
Sonko is seeking to unseat Kidero on a Jubilee Party ticket.
The seat has also attracted the interest of controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna and formed Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth.
