Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has hit out at The Star newspaper for alleging that he has a poor working relationship with his deputy Polycarp Igathe.
This comes after the paper reported that the two were at loggerheads over the running of city affairs, something that led to the intervention of State House.
“I'm in very good books with my deputy Polycarp Igathe. The National government owes us over Sh 80,000,000,000(80b) and already they've started releasing this money to us in bits,” Sonko said on Thursday.
The governor said his government was working in collaboration with their national counterparts to improve the lives of Nairobians.
“We shall continue to partner with them for better transformation and well being of Nairobians in terms of service delivery,” Sonko said.
He also attached screenshots of an alleged WhatsApp and text conversation with the deputy as proof of their amiable working relations.
“Looking at the attached texts and WhatsApp conversations does it look like we are falling apart?” Sonko said.
