Nairobi senator Mike Sonko has refuted reports suggesting that he has bowed out of the Nairobi gubernatorial race and instead agreed to support incumbent Evans Kidero’s re-election.
The story came out after the two leaders were spotted having lunch at a city hotel.
Sonko said that he would never support the governor under whatever circumstances.
“I wish to categorically state here and now that I have never, I'm not, and will never support Dr Kidero who is my competitor in the 2017 gubernatorial race,” he said in a strongly worded statement.
Sonko said that the lunch meeting he had with Kidero was after they attended a parliamentary Standing Committee meeting on Roads and Transportation.
The also senator noted that no political discussions were made at the meeting.
