Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi 'Sonko' has declared that he will join the Cord coalition but only if former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka is made the coalition's flag bearer.
According to Sonko who is a member of President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee coalition, Kalonzo is a man who traversed with him in 2012 and now he is ready to support his presidential bid.
"For the sake of our community, leaders must unite. I traversed this country with Kalonzo. Even now I am ready for as long as he is a flag bearer of Cord," he said.
Sonko was speaking during the burial of father to Mavoko Member of Parliament Patrick Makau in Ngelani, Machakos County on Saturday.
On his part, Minority Leader in the National Assembly Francis Nyenze urged leaders to rally behind Kalonzo's presidential bid towards the 2017 elections.
However, Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama and his Siaya counterpart James Orengo lashed at Nyenze for not being active in the fight for a better Kenya.
Orengo said that the three principals were ready to support whoever they chose to be the coalition's flag bearer.
On the other hand, Kalonzo assured the residents and Cord supporters in general that the coalition is united and that they should avoid speculating anything yet.
