Speaking in his office, Sonko said that he will prove to Wamalwa that citizens and not few elites in the society are the one who own votes, and they will vote for him. Sonko promised to contest for the seat even if the leaders do not want.

"I have been a strong supporter of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto. If they choose to endorse Wamalwa, I will have no option but vie as an independent candidate," he said.

Sonko flash-backed his race to Makadara MP seat in 2010 saying that the heads of states were against his bid but the people voted for him in large numbers.

"I am warning the government that 2017 may be a repeat of the Makadara elections in 2010. I will teach Wamalwa an unforgettable political lesson," cautioned Sonko.
