The senator stood surety for Mwamnuadzi who faces charges of being in possession of a gun and rounds of ammunition.
Mwamnuadzi last month absconded a court session and several warrants of arrest have been issued against him.
However, when the Nairobi senator appeared before the resident magistrate Susan Yator, he said he does not know of the whereabouts of Mwamnuadzi but expressed willingness to to to jail over his absence.
"I am willing to go to jail as a surety for the MRC. I will stand surety until the case is concluded. However, the High Court had considered the MRC a legal entity and therefore they should be released," Sonko said as quoted by the Standard.
"The last time I saw Mwamnuadzi was in court. I heard that he was dead, but I'm yet to see the death certificate," he further said.
The senator added that the job to find Mwamnuadzi was on the police and not him or any other civilian.
He said that in case the police did not find him, he was ready to go to jail over the bail.
