Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has made true his promise of a cleaner Nairobi by taking a cleaning exercise to Muthurwa market.

In the exercise dubbed 'Operation Ng'arisha Nairobi', Sonko said he was going to ensure the city is redeemed from the garbage and litter menace that has bedeviled it for long.

He posted photos of the cleaning works in progress and asked residents to reach out to him in case their respective areas still had the garbage problem.

"Ongoing garbage collection at Muthurwa Market: To prevent the outbreak and spread of deadly diseases, it is imperative to ensure that stagnant rain water does not mix with waste which might prove to be toxic," he said.

"Kama Mtaa yako garbage iko kindly tell us the Ward and Constituency," he added.

This translates to: "If your area is littered with garbage please tell us the Ward and Constituency."
