Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has dismissed Senator Gideon Sonko as a criminal’ who cannot be trusted with such an office.
Both leaders were appearing at KTN governorship debate on Monday which also featured Peter Kenneth and Miguna Miguna.
Asked why he thought he is fit for a reelection, Kidero directed his answers to the senator who is believed to be a front runner given his populism politics.
“I m not a criminal, I have never escaped from prison and for that matter I have never been convicted anywhere,” said Kidero in reference to Sonko’s past records.
He added: “Nairobi doesn’t need criminals for it to run. I have done my part in the last few years and I believe that with another term, all will be fine.”
In his previous statements, Sonko had denied escaping from Shimo La Tewa prison but admitted of having been jailed for petty theft.
During Jubilee nominations, he had to fight hard to be cleared by police to receive a certificate of good conduct.
