Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has lashed out at Senator Mike Sonko's gubernatorial candidature, saying the lawmaker is not competent enough for the city's top seat.

Speaking on Tuesday during a series of political meetings in Lang'ata and Kibra constituencies, the County Chief cautioned residents against entrusting Sonko with the gubernatorial seat, arguing that he failed  as a Senator.

He called on the locals to support his bid, noting that he is still up to the task to complete initiated projects during his tenure.

Kidero's sentiments were reiterated by his Deputy Jonathan Mueke, who noted that Sonko is no match to Kidero.

"The man with chains, who can’t even speak English, can he really compete with Kidero?" He Mueke posed.

Sonko will be eyeing the seat on a Jubilee Party ticket, whereas Kidero will be seeking re-election on an ODM Party ticket.
