According to Manyora, Sonko has a huge support base that will guarantee JP a win against Kidero and others in the Nairobi gubernatorial race.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Thursday, Manyora said that Jubilee will clinch the Nairobi governor seat only if it endorses Sonko.
“Sonko’s is the Jubilee Party's best bet to send governor Kidero packing in the August general election ,” he said during the interview.
The professor said that kidero will retain the Nairobi top seat if JP endorses oher candidate and not Sonko.
Manyora dismissed former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth’s bid for the Nairobi top seat saying that he ‘killed’ his political career when he dissolved his Kenya national Congress Party (KNC) to join Jubilee.
“Peter Kenneth would have been a serious contender if he had retained his KNC party,” he said.
A section of aspirants have declared interest to unseat Governor Kidero.
Sentor Mike Sonko, Peter Kenneth, former Satrehe MP Margret Wanjiru, former Raila Odinga’s political advisor Miguna Miguna, businesswoman Esther Passaris, former National Assembly speaker Kenneth Marende, nominated MP Johnson Sakaja and Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru are eyeing Kidero’s seat in the August polls.
Sakaja has however dropped out of the Nairobi gubernatorial race and will be contesting for the senate seat.
The nominated MP presented his senatorial nomination papers to Jubilee party officials on Thursday.
