Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and Peter Kenneth, both gunning for the county governorship, on Thursday skipped a televised presidential debate.

Some of the candidates participating in the debate are incumbent Evans Kidero, Michael Mutinda, Macharia Kamau, Godfrey Wanyoike and Miguna Miguna.

Jubilee Party candidate, Senator Sonko, sent his deputy Polycarp Igathe to represent him in the debate.

Mr Igathe was, however, rejected by organisers of the event on grounds that this is a debate for gubernatorial candidates.

The debate has been organised by the Kenya Alliance of the Residential Association (Kara)
