Nairobi senator, Mike Sonko was on Wednesday summoned by the Senate Powers and Privileges Committee.
The committee, which was chaired by Speaker Ekwee Ethuro, asked the senator to retract his statements against the Nairobi governor, Evans Kidero.
Sonko accused Kidero of being a thief and a murderer last month during a Public Accounts Committee session.
“I have not changed my mind. I have told the committee I have enough evidence to table,’’ said Sonko.
The senator caused distraction during the meeting where he threw papers at the governor and banged aggressively on tables.
“This committee has no powers to investigate me. It is illegal and contravenes Standing Orders and is an effort in futility for the committee to proceed,” added the senator.
Sonko said that he will not retract his statement.
