Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has met with slum dwellers to discuss ways of improving their living standards.

Speaking through his Facebook page on Wednesday, Sonko said they were deliberating on ways of relocating residents of Murigu-ini slums in the outskirts of South B.

He said there was a multi-million housing project that would see close to 1000 households given new residences.

"Meeting with landlords and tenants from Marigu-ini Slums in South B to discuss the way forward for the issues raised concerning relocation of more than 8,000 families as they wait for the completion of the Sh4 Billion project with 2,600 housing units," he said.

"The county government under my leadership in partnership with National Government is striving to uplift the living standards of slum dwellers from living in shanties to permanent structures with social amenities," he added.
