Nairobi County senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko has sent his condolences, following the death of Nyeri governor Nderitu Gachagua.

He died at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London while undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer, February 24, at around 2pm.

Sonko, a Jubilee lawmaker, said he was saddened by Gachagua's death.

''Deeply saddened by news of the passing of H.E Nderitu Gachagua,'' he said.

Reports by local media said Gachagua's brother, Rigathi noted Gachagua died with close family members at his bedside.''My condolences to the family, friends and people of Nyeri County,'' sonko added on Twitter, few hours after the news broke.
